UK’s foreign secretary celebrates Shakespeare’s 400th birthday in Pakistan

johnson LAHORE: British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson Friday celebrated 400th birthday of English poet, playwright and actor William Shakespeare with Pakistani students in Lahore. Johnson, who is on a two-day visit to Pakistan, posted a group photo of the occasion with a message: “a recognition of cultural ties”. Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet Earlier, he visited Kinnard Girls School in Lahore. “Kinnaird Girls School #Lahore just one example of #UKAid supporting girls' education. Also met some of #Pakistan's women's cricket team,” he tweeted. The UK’s foreign secretary also visited Shahi Qila and Badshahi Mosque. He held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to discuss trade and development in Pakistan.
