Asia's largest donkey festival begins

INT TALKING DONKEY PKG 28-07 Mukkaram BADIN/MIRPURKHAS: Asia's largest "Donkey Festival" begins  here at Tando Ghulam Ali city of district Badin on Thursday. The Two days "Donkey Festival" is organized every year on 11 and 12th of Muharram, in which, thousands of sellers and buyers participate. Thousands of donkeys of different breeds from across the country are to be presented by the sellers in the festival. Prices of donkeys range from Rs. 25000 to Rs. 500000 in the market. This festival was first arranged in 1974 by Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur and now his son Mir Allah Bux Talpur is regularly organizing this event every year as a tradition. Different races of donkeys such as 'Lasi, Ladi, Kala, Chini, Thari' and others are being presented in the market. Owner of the donkey named "Tofan" said he has fixed selling price of his donkey "Tofan" as Rs. 1.1 million. He said they are spending huge money on breeding of the animals. Another expensive donkey was named as "Lal" and owner of this donkey has fixed its sale price at Rs 5 million. The owners of the donkeys have decorated their animals with garlands and other decorative items. Donkey sellers from Punjab, KPK, Balochistan and other far flung areas of the country including other districts of Sindh are participating in the festival which shall continue till Friday (October 14). - APP
