No Saudi compensation for Pakistan’s Mina victims

mina ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on Friday informed the National Assembly that no financial assistance has been provided by Saudi Arabia to heirs of Pakistani pilgrims who martyred in Mina incident last year. Responding to a question, the Minister told the House in a written reply, that out of 82 Pakistani pilgrims of Mina tragedy, the ministry has compensated 74 nominees of the deceased Hujjaj Rs.500,000/- per head under Hujjaj Muhafiz Scheme.
He said the rest would be compensated on receipt of the supporting documents from their nominees.
The nominees are being contacted through letters as well as through telephonic reminders, he added. - APP
