Match-fixing in IPL: Indian cricket board may suspend 2 players

Staff ReportNEW DELHI: The scam of match fixing in Indian Premier League (IPL) has rocked India, with country’s cricket board likely to suspend two players who were caught on TV footage admitting to spot-fixing in the game, SAMAA reports.According to an Indian newspaper, Times Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may suspend T Sudhindra and Shalabh Shrivastava from all forms of cricket.The decision will be taken in the IPL General Council meeting that is scheduled to be held later on Tuesday.
On Monday, a sting operation carried out by India TV showed five domestic-level players, representing various IPL franchises, apparently succumbing to the lure of fixing and engaging in lengthy haggling over the price of bowling a no-ball on demand in the IPL. The channel said a pattern has emerged where a particular bowler pitches easy deliveries and there are dropped catches. -- SAMAA/AGENCIES
