Varsity rejects criticism over student’s expulsion for Facebook post

Khashan University Fsd FTG 05-01 FAISALABAD: Brushing aside criticism emanating from punitive action taken against a student, University of Agriculture of Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed on Tuesday said media was telling "one-side story" of the episode. Syed Kashan Haider Gilani, a PhD student, was asked to leave the university after he criticized the administration for arranging a musical concert as part of a Kisan Mela held in the university. “I am at a loss to understand how these concerts, being held in the name of peasants do, reflect rural live,” he wrote in his Facebook post. Also read: University student expelled over Facebook post However Dr Ahmed said: “We do have evidence against the student. Each student has the right to appeal against disciplinary action”. “Doors of university are not close on Kahshan, he can file an appeal against punitive action”. “I will look into the matter when it approaches me,” he said, adding that the university believe in freedom of expression and has provided the facility of Wi-Fi in the premises.”We want all the children to complete their studies,” He said.-Samaa
