Complete shutdown, anti-India protest in Kashmir

(AFP)[/caption] ISLAMABAD: In Indian-held Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed on the second consecutive day on Tuesday against killing of truck driver, Zahid Rasool Butt by Hindu fanatics. All shops, educational institutions and offices were closed while traffic was off the road, Kashmir Media Service reported. On the other hand, anti-India protests and clashes between protesters and Indian paramilitary personnel erupted at Khanabal, Lazibal, Nandpora, Bijbehara and other areas of the district after Indian policemen beat up and thrashed pedestrians in Lal Chowk area of the town. Indian police and troops used brute force, fired tear gas shells and pellets on protesters in which several people were injured. Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders including Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Ramazan Khan, Maulvi Bashir Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad Tauhidi, Engineer Farooq Ahmed and Ghazi Manzoor during their visit to the family of the martyred driver at Batengo in Islamabad, today, urged the international community to take notice of the continued human rights violations by Indian troops in the occupied territory. They reiterated the Kashmiris' resolve to continue the ongoing liberation struggle till freedom from the Indian bondage. - APP
