Pakistan, Italy pledge to boost business opportunities

pm-italy UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan and Italy on Tuesday pledged to boost their trade and economic ties, besides boosting bilateral cooperation at the level of the United Nations and the European Union. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who is leading a Pakistani delegation to participate in the 70th UN General Assembly, met his Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi here at the UN headquarters in New York. The two leaders agreed to boost their trade and economic ties. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the Italian companies needed to explore business opportunities in Pakistan, that offered lucrative incentives on foreign investment. The Italian Prime Minister described Pakistan as a friend, and not just a partner. Both the leaders agreed that an Italian trade mission will visit Pakistan soon to explore new avenues of cooperation. The Italian Prime Minister described Pakistani community in Italy as an integrated and model community and both agreed to step up bilateral ties and cooperation at the level of EU and UN. The Italian Prime Minister also thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for Pakistan's support for his country's upcoming election to the United Nations Security Council. --APP
