ISLAMABAD: With reservations not addressed, Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) called off on Thursday its negotiations with the government and demanded the government to immediately accept the resignations.
The MQM’s negotiators led by Dr. Farooq Sattar held a press conference in today’s wee hours following a prolonged meeting at the Parliament Lodges.
Muttahida leaders termed the government’s non-serious approach as responsible for the collapse of negotiations, saying no redressal committee was formed despite the lapse of even 20 days.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said, “MQM is being marginalized under the garb of Karachi operation as the party’s political and welfare activities are subject to an unannounced ban.”
He continued the party’s donation chits are considered suspicious.
Dr. Farooq Sattar also complained the ban on live addresses of party chief Altaf Hussain on national media.
Towards the close of press conference, he announced to go back to Karachi on board first available flight. –SAMAA
