Sri Lanka win 2nd T20 match by 24 runs, level series against Pakistan

Staff ReportDUBAI: Sri Lanka have won the second T20 match by 24 runs and leveled the two-match series by 1-1 against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium this midnight, SAMAA reports.Sri Lanka team not only leveled two-match T20 series, after winning the second match, it also broke Pakistan dream of getting top position in T20 format of cricket amongst all teams of the world.Pakistan top batsmen again failed to create any impression or play better to achieve the 212 runs’ target; all Pakistan team could make only 187 runs in 19.2 overs and lost the match by 24 runs to the host team.The Green Shirts could not face Sri Lankan bowlers with confidence and started losing wickets at start of the innings. They also failed miserably to add runs in team score and saving the wickets.Opener Sharjeel performed better and scored fifty and Shahid Afridi also played some impressive hits and added much needed 28 quick runs in the score. Tail ender Sohail Tanvir also received massive claps from the fans by hitting boundaries to make 41 runs’ individual score. Sohail Tanvir also made record of highest individual score at number nine in T20 format.Opener Amir Shehzad scored 8 runs, Skipper Mohammad Hafeez 7, Sohaib Maqsood 15, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin, and Bilawal Bhatti scored no run, and Saeed Ajmal 20 runs. Sri Lankan bowlers added 16 runs as extras in Pakistan score.Sri Lankan bowler Senanayake took three wickets while S Prasanna, Perera, and Kulasekara took two wickets each, and Malinga took one wicket in the match.Sri Lankan all rounder Perera took Man of the Match Award for his match winning innings of 84 runs and two crucial wickets. Pakistani star all rounder Shahid Afridi received Man of the Series Award for his extra ordinary performance in this T20 series.Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and invited Sri Lanka for batting first in second T20 fixture here in Dubai on Friday night.Sri Lanka team set 212 runs target for Green shirts after scoring 211 runs on three wickets at completion of 20 assigned overs of the innings.Pakistan bowlers failed in controlling the game or stopping the batsmen from making frequent runs in every over while the fielders also performed purely during the match.Only Saeed Ajmal took two wickets in the fixture and remaining all Pakistani bowlers failed in taking wickets of Sri Lankan batsmen.
