Karachi: Safoora tragedy victims laid to rest
KARACHI: As many as 43 people, who were brutally killed yesterday in an incident of firing on a bus near Safoora Chowrangi located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi, have been laid to rest here on Thursday.
Yesterday, unknown assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on a bus which left at least 45 people dead including 16 women while several people sustained injuries.
Over 50 to 60 people were aboard the bus including children and women.
Strict security measures were taken during the funeral prayers. Rangers and police will also be with the ambulances, taking dead bodies to graveyard at Sakhi Hassan.
Additional I.G Ghulam Qadir Thebo, MQM leaders Farooq Sattar, Rasheed Godel and other important people attended the funeral prayers.
Pakistan’s national flag will fly at half mast today (Thursday) as the grieving nation mourns Safoora Carnage to express solidarity with the victims. The trade organizations across Sindh have already called for cessation of all commercial activities. SAMAA
