ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal said Friday that the government and Pakistan-e-Tehreek Insaf agreed to make the fresh talks result-oriented to resolve the political impasses.

"The contacts with PTI have been restored and both the sides held a useful round of negotiations, the previous day, in a positive and cordial atmosphere and agreed to make the talks result-oriented," Ahsan Iqbal said while talking to media persons after inaugurating Post-2015 Dialogue on Strengthening Capacities and Building Effective Institutions here.

He said that talks would continue on Saturday and Sunday and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Finance Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar would also participate.

The minister expressed the hope for early and positive outcome of these talks, saying that the government had no objection to the two demands presented by PTI related to investigation into alleged systematic mass rigging during the elections of 2013 and election reforms.

He said that government was ready to investigate whether there was any systematic rigging in 2013 elections that PTI alleges were manipulated to lead one party to win and the other to lose.

He said that the second demand of the PTI is related to election reforms, which is also demand of all the political parties to make the elections system fair and transparent.

He said a parliamentary committee, having representation of all the political parties, was already working on it and urged PTI to participate in its meetings to make the reforms comprehensive.

To a question about constitution of judicial commission, the minister said that it was decided between the PTI and government representatives that meeting details would not be shared publically to discourage speculations.

He said that all the basic issues would be addressed to make the talks result-oriented as the country was not able to afford these political crisis.

He said that it was time to give a clear message to the world that Pakistan is peace-loving and safe country, added that the PTI leadership must refrain from making such speeches that harm the atmosphere for negotiations. (APP)
