PTI continues protest as workers stop trucks at KPK highways

Staff ReportPESHAWAR: Pursuing the anti-missile strike campaign, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf continued its protest sit-ins for the second day today and stopped NATO supply trucks from crossing through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, SAMAA reported Monday.Sources said PTI workers have set up camps at five major highways of the KPK where they were checking customs documents listing the goods being transported to Afghanistan. “Only those containers are being allowed to enter Afghanistan which carry goods other than the NATO supplies”, sources said.Torkham Border, one of the major border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, remained closed for the third consecutive day today, halting the transportation destined for Pakistan.SAMAA correspondent reported that PTI activists set up their camps at Peshawar Ring Road, Khairabad Bride in Noushera, Indus Highway Chowk in Bannu, Charsadda Interchange, Kohat’s Indus Highway and Korai and Ramak areas of D.I Khan where they were checking vehicles carrying goods for US-led NATO troops in Afghanistan.Transporters seemed to be helpless in the face of PTI protest, complaining that the political workers should not be allowed to halt their containers.Meanwhile, at least 35 PTI workers were booked in a case for beating a truck driver in Peshawar. - SAMAA
