Committee to sit today to appoint caretaker CM of Punjab

Staff ReportLAHORE: Following two days of failed discussions, the parliamentary committee formed to select the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, will sit again today to finalize a name for the top executive in the interim provincial government, SAMAA reported Tuesday.If the committee fails to reach consensus on a name then, the issue will go to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to be decided at last.Earlier yesterday, member of the committee from the opposition Chaudhry Zaheeruddin told the press that all four names were discussed at length. He hoped committee will agree on one name today.Talking to media after the meeting, Rana Sanaullah said that all four names were respectable but the PML-N would continue supporting Justice retired Aamir Raza Khan and Khwaja Zaheer. Meanwhile, the other side insisted on the names of Justice (rted.) Zahid Hussain and Najm Sethi. Shaukat Basra said the names from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are not impartial. The N-League says these names were brought in consensus after consultations with all allies. –SAMAA
