Treason case: SC concludes hearings, directs govt to complete investigation

Staff ReportISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday concluded hearing of a treason case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and directed the federal government to proceed further with its investigations, SAMAA reports.A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja concluded the hearing and directed the Attorney General Munir A Malik to proceed in the case as per the statement submitted by the government in the Supreme Court.Attorney General Malik informed that the court the government has constituted a committee to investigate further in the case.The bench hoped that there would not be any unnecessary delay in carrying out investigations.Late last month, the government formed a committee to collect evidences of treason under Article 6 of the constitution. Committee members include FIA’s senior officials namely Additional Director Generals Khalid Qureshi and M Azam Khan while two FIA directors are Hussain Asghar and Maqsoodul Hasan. – SAMAA
