Aftershocks felt in earthquake-hit Awaran district

Staff ReportAWARAN, Balochistan: Aftershocks measuring five on the Richter scale were felt in Balochistan’s earthquake-hit Awaran district on Friday where Tuesday’s powerful tremor left nearly 400 people dead and thousands homeless, SAMAA reported.Pakistan Met office said the epicentre of the quake was 10 kilometers deep and 90 kilometers north of Mara area.The Met department said upto 15 aftershocks have so far been recorded in Balochistan areas.On the other hand, rescue and relief operations are underway in Balochistan as tents‚ food items and medicine are being distributed among quake-hit people of Awaran and other areas of Balochistan.Chairman‚ National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)‚ Saeed Aleem is supervising the relief activities. - SAMAA
