Pre-Ramadan vegetables’ price hike starts in Karachi wholesale market

Staff Report KARACHI: The price hike and stocking of vegetables have started in the wholesale market of Karachi, SAMAA reported on Sunday. Vegetables’ traders have said that false shortage of tomato has been created in the whole sale market to mount its price.After fake shortage of tomato its price has mounted by Rs. 10 per kilogram in wholesale market where it is being sold at Rs. 30 per kg while it is being sold at Rs. 35 per kg in retail.Prices of small and big green chilies have been also mounted by Rs. 5 per kilogram in the wholesale market. Currently, small green chilies are being sold at Rs. 20 per kg and big green chilies at Rs. 30 per kg in the wholesale market.At retail level, small green chilies are being sold at Rs. 25 and big at Rs. 40 per kg while lemon price has jumped up to Rs. 80 per kilogram.
