Dengue on rampage: woman dies in Vihari

Staff ReportLAHORE: Another dengue patient passed away in Punjab city of Vihari today (Monday), as the number of dengue-infested people is on the rise in various other cities of the province including Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad and Swat.At least 12 more dengue cases came to the fore in Gujranwala. According to Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Zafar Iqbal, the number of people suffering from the disease mounted to 45 in the city.EDO Health Nisar Cheema said five patients hailing from Kamoke and Wazirabad have been shifted to Lahore in critical state.Meantime, the dengue virus is on the rampage in Multan too, where number of patients rose to 85. A ward at Nishtar Hospital has been specified for the mosquito-borne disease. At present, 11 patients are under treatment at the ward.In Faisalabad, as many as 30 new cases were confirmed as suffering from dengue fever during last 24 hours, raising the overall number of patients in the city to 311. There are 64 patients being treated at Civil Hospital and Allied Hospital.At least 18 cases of suspected patients were brought to the notice; of them, four were tested positive for the epidemic in Muzaffarabad. Dengue virus was confirmed in four people including a woman in Swat and Shangla. Patients were shifted to Swat’s Saidu Sharif Hospital. SAMAA
