Govt okays plan to hike gas, CNG tariff

Staff ReportISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a plan hiking prices of domestic and commercial gas by 13.98 percent, SAMAA reported on Wednesday. While Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed 46 percent hike in CNG tariff from 1st January. The government has given a go-ahead to raise gas tariff by 207 percent. Under the plan, domestic gas will go up by 13.98 while industrial gas tariff will be raised by 16.97 percent. In addition, it has been decided to increase gas price by 207.10 percent for fertilizer sector. IPPs will also face 34.57 percent hike in gas tariff. On the other hand, there is 38.63 percent hike for CNG consumers. WAPDA and KESC have also not been spared. They will get gas 13.58 percent expensive. The OGRA will issue a final notification in this regard. SAMAA
