Counterfeit medicines leave two pregnant women dead

Staff ReportISLAMABAD: Two expected mothers lost their lives while delivering their babies over consumption of counterfeit medicines at PIMS hospital in Islamabad on Friday. Two women, Fauzia Kashif and Safi Farrukh, died as a result of reaction after taking bogus medicines. However, doctors managed to recover four other women, who consumed same medicines. PIMS spokesman Dr. Jehanzeb Orakzai said that a committee has been set up to probe the issue. He said that medicine samples have also been sent to Central Drug Laboratory for tests. SAMAA
