Gastro virus prevails as rain lashes Karachi

KARACHI: As the city remained in the grip of a pre-monsoon weather system on Wednesday, the contaminated water has entered in the houses, causing increase in gastro virus among children here Thursday.

While talking to SAMAA, the Secretary health Sindh Raza Zaidi told that an important meeting has been called to review rain aftermath.

The medical superintendents, district health officers and EDOs of eight renowned hospitals of Karachi will attend the meeting.

According to sources, several gastro patients have been admitted in hospitals after the contaminated water has entered in the houses.

By Wednesday evening, 45-millimetre rainfall had been recorded in the city by the meteorological office and another spell of rain was forecast for the next 24 hours.

Heavy rains that continued for several hours left at least three people dead and affected road and railway traffic. SAMAA
