Flood sweeps Khairpur Nathan Shah

KARACHI: As the floods continue to wreak havoc in Sindh, flood water is now sweeping towards Khairpur Nathan Shah; the town is being evacuated.

Meanwhile, raging flood torrents unleashed from two breaches in MS protective embankment have entered Jati city of Thatta District, after wreaking havoc in Sujawal.

According to Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Imran Laghari, an emergency has been declared in Khairpur Nathan Shah tehsil of Dadu district, owing to flood anticipation.

Another roaring tide from Hadad Kot is surging towards Khairpur Nathan Shah, 70 percent of the city’s population has relocated to safer places for fear of flood devastation. Another flood torrent through breaches of MNV Drain is raging towards Khanpur and Indus Highway.

Several villages have been deluged by flood water in Jati city. Many cracks have started to appear in Dhamra Canal, allowing flood water to flow through them.

Gushing flood water flowing from the Indus after development of a breach at Kot Aalimon embankment near Thatta District has washed away many villages, while high flood torrents are roaring into urban areas. SAMAA
