No consensus on celebrating Basant in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore administration and the Kite Flying Association failed to reach consensus on the issue of Basant celebrations in the city on Saturday.
The negotiation being carried out between the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Butta and All Pakistan Flying Kite Association ended without providing any result.
DCO Lahore clarified the members of the Kite Flying Association that no one would be allowed to celebrate Basant in Lahore and those who violate would be dealt strictly.
Sajjad Butta also said that the citizens’ committees have been formed to inform the administration if anyone violates and celebrates Basant.
On the other hand, the Kite Flying Association has announced to celebrate Basant in Lahore on March 7 and 8, 2010 and the association would submit an application seeking permission to celebrate Basant in the office of the DCO Lahore on February 22, 2010. SAMAA
