Information Minister condemns kidnapping of envoy

PESHAWAR: The NWFP Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Saturday phoned Iranian Consul General, Mohammad Iqbal Ali Asghari and expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the kidnapping of Commercial Attach Hashmatullah Attarzade and killing of his security guard in Peshawar.
He assured that the provincial govt would do all out effort for early recovery of the abducted diplomat.
Mian Iftikhar said that he realized the agonies the family members of the kidnapped diplomat were passing through and that the provincial govt was equally aggrieved on the incident.
He said foreign diplomats are our guests on this soil and their protection is our responsibility. Adding that all out efforts were being made for the early recovery of the kidnapped diplomat.
Mian Iftikhar regretted the publication of a false news item regarding recovery of the abducted diplomat advising the media men not to publish or telecast any news unless its veracity is authenticated saying such false news item were causing inconvenience to the concerned families.
He said the terrorists after facing failure in their old strategy, have now adopted a new strategy of killing and kidnapping foreigners with aim to spoil our relations with brotherly countries and to malign Pakistan's image at International level.
The Provincial Minister said that the terrorists were employing such negative tactics to communicate to the world that the present political dispensation was incapable of dealing with such situation. But they would never succeed in their nefarious motives.
He condemned the killing of foreigners and kidnapping of innocent people and said that terrorists deserved no relaxation.
Information Minister assured that the government would take stern legal action against such elements.
