Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences to emerge as model facility

KARACHI: Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), a state of the art medical center has so far vaccinated 20,000 children of Gambat and adjoining areas for Hepatitis B and Typhoid, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
As per detail Dr. Rahim Bux Bhatti, Director of GIMS briefing a
group of journalists from Karachi and Sukkur who visited GIMS on
Wednesday said, "we intend to eradicate Typhoid and Hepatitis C from
Gambat."
He said the administration and doctors of GIMS strongly believe
that quality treatment is the basic right of the masses.
Dr. Bhatti said that to ensure quality of vaccines only WHO
recommended vaccines are used and the center houses one of its kind of
cold storage facility for maintaining quality.
He said that besides the exemplary vaccination unit GIMS also
houses the second largest dialysis ward in Sindh coupled with CT Scan
and RFT facilities.
Stem Cell Regeneration Treatment has been provided to three
patients so far on experimental basis, he said mentioning that this
was another first in Pakistan.
Transplantation unit is also near completion which houses state
of the art machines and is completed with a cost of 300 million, the
complex also provides ENT treatment, pathology lab, neo natal unit,
digital library and ambulances.
GIMS as part of its expansion plans is building an academic block
and trauma center on 50 acres acquired from the government.
The project will be completed in 2011 with a cost of 600 million,
said the Director of GIMS. -APP
