PTCL numbers in Karachi and Lahore go up from 7 to 8 digits
KARACHI: As per the instructions of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has shifted its fixed line numbering plan from 7 to 8 digit series.
The change has only been implemented in Karachi and Lahore for now. As per details, the digit ‘3’ will be added in all existing seven digit numbers except those starting with ‘9’.
Moreover, the digit ‘9’ will be added to all existing numbers starting with ‘9’. An important point to remember is the numbers are being added to
existing numbers not area codes, with the exemption of army exchanges, which would remain same.
The new series plan will run parallel to the old one for a period of three months (July 1 till Sep 30). AGENCIES
