Staff Report

LAHORE: Various trader associations of Lahore observed a strike against the persistent power breakdowns and rise of petroleum prices.

On the strike call issued by the All Pakistan Traders Association (APTA), all major markets of the city remained closed on Saturday, while a partial boycott was observed in the smaller markets.

The Jamaat-e Islami, Khaksaar Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaaf also supported the strike and rallies were held in other parts of the province.

The APTA has called a meeting of all trade unions across the province on July 7, to discuss their future strategy.

APTA President Haji Maqsood Butt has earlier warned that if the load shedding continues, traders will besiege WAPDA offices and observe an indefinite sit-in. SAMAA
