Mohammad Amir issues statement on international return

Former pacer Mohammad Amir has denied reports of taking back retirement, saying that he has no intention of returning to international cricket.

Reports emerged that the 29-year-old was considering making Pakistan comeback if Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja decides to quit the job after a successful no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

However, speaking to Cricket Pakistan, the left-arm pacer said that he has no intention of returning to international cricket as he is busy playing various leagues these days and enjoying life by spending time with his family.

Amir has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is where he claimed 259 wickets.

He had announced his shocking retirement from international cricket back in December 2020 and also justified his decision by saying that he was ill-treated by the team management back then that consisted of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

Amir had stated that he would take back his retirement after the departure of the then coaches, Waqar and Misbah.

Despite the change in PCB setup, Amir stayed away from international cricket largely due to Raja’s tough stance and no-tolerance policy regarding fixers.
