Afghanistan appoint Umar Gul as bowling coach
Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has been appointed as the Afghanistan cricket team’s bowling consultant and coach for a short stint.
The 37-year-old will join the Afghanistan camp in Dubai from April 4, where he will link up with the newly appointed Head Coach Graham Thorpe, who is expected to join the camp later in the month.
Gul, who was known for his death overs bowling, has previously been associated with Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators as a bowling coach.
He has also worked in Kashmir Premier League (KPL) and in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) with Galle Gladiators.
The speedster has initially been appointed as the bowling coach for a short three-week stint but the contract can be extended depending on his impact on the side.
The former pacer expressed his joy at being associated with Afghanistan.
