At least 22 members of the National Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, including Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, participated in the opposition’s gathering at the Sindh House in Islamabad Wednesday evening.

The event was hosted by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and was attended by PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif and several other opposition members.

PTI MNAs Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, Fawad Chaudhry’s cousin Farrukh Altaf and 20 other members surprised the attendees with their arrival. Noor Alam Khan, Ramesh Kumar, Basit Bukhari and Javeria Zafar were also in attendance.

Taking to Twitter, Dr Aamir Liaquat said that he belongs to Sindh and there is "nothing wrong" if he is visiting Sindh House.

However, all the other MNAs were tight-lipped on their visit to Sindh House and refused to comment on the reason behind their presence.

The PPP, on the other hand, has claimed that after the Sindh House meeting, the number of MNAs to vote against PM Khan in the no-confidence motion has gone up to 196.

Sindh House is the same mansion where eight PTI MNAs appeared on media and had expressed defiance against Imran Khan earlier this month.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dr Aamir Liaquat had tweeted that the opposition’s no-confidence motion against the prime minister will succeed, and Aleem Khan will become the Punjab chief minister.

He had made a total of three predictions in his tweet and said that MQM-P would back PPP which eventually turned out to be true.

“Pervaiz Elahi, your ability to become a chief minister is now as difficult as putting the toothpaste back in the tube once it’s out,” he quipped at the PTI-backed candidate for Punjab’s chief ministry.
