Pervez Khattak refutes remarks on PML-Q blackmailing government
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak has affirmed that the government won't give up the seat of Punjab chief minister.
"If PML-N is giving it [the post], go to them," he said, referring to PML-Q's Moonis Ilahi.
On Wednesday, Khattak said that PML-Q, on the basis of five seats, can't blackmail the government.
Immediately after the minister's statement, Moonis Ilahi took to Twitter demanding an explanation. "I'm in touch Pervez Khattak on a daily basis. He, himself, should give an explanation [of his remarks]."
Later around noon, Khattak refuted his statement saying that he never passed such remarks. "We support Prime Minister Imran Khan and we support our allies — PML-Q,” the minister said.
A day earlier, PM Imran had barred all PTI leaders from issuing any statements or commenting on allies.
Meanwhile, PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi, in an interview to HUM News' Meher Bokhari last night, said that PTI allies are 100% tilted towards opposition. "It is Khan’s duty to reverse the tilt," he advised.
He maintained that the time has now passed to send delegations for assuring the support.
The PML-Q leader has predicted the opposition alliance to last long and stable. “When enemies are together, they often keep their differences aside,” he added.
Following Elahi’s interview, journalist Meher Bokhari said she was “shocked” on his opinions on government. “He [Elahi] has ringed the bells for government ahead of no-trust motion,” she said.
