This is their fourth defeat in a row
Sidra Ameen’s record-breaking ton was not enough as Pakistan Women suffered their fourth defeat in a row at the ICC Women’s World Cup on Monday.
Chasing a 235-run target against Bangladesh at Hamilton, the Women-in-Green managed to score 225-9 in their allotted 50 overs.
Pakistan went off to a solid start courtesy of Nahida Khan and Sidra Ameen. They provided a 91-run stand for the opening wicket.
Rumana Ahmed sent Nahida packing after she scored 43 off 67 balls. She struck three boundaries. Captain Bismah Maroof and Sidra continued to dominate with the bat as they made a 64-run stand for the second wicket.
Bismah, who scored 31, was removed by Jahanara Alam. At that stage, Pakistan Women reached 155/2.
Omaima Sohail (10)’s wicket triggered the collapse, as Pakistan went from 183-2 to 188-7 in the span of just 13 balls.
Sidra, however, created history by becoming the only Pakistan Women batter to score a ton in an ICC event. She got run out after scoring 104.
Bangladesh, who are playing their first Women's Cricket World Cup, restricted Pakistan to 225-9 courtesy of a brilliant spell from Fahima Khatun, who ended up with the figures of three for 38 in her eight overs.
Earlier, Fargana Hoque powered Bangladesh to 234-7 in their allotted 50 overs after losing the toss.
The 28-year-old scored 71 off 115 balls. She was well supported by Captain Nigar Sultana and Sharmin Akhter. They scored 46 and 44 respectively.
For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu claimed figures of three for 41 in her 10-over spell.
