A 14-year-old student was injured on Monday after he jumped off the third floor of the school building in Lahore.

The student, enrolled in class nine at a private school in Township area, was allegedly disheartened by the behaviour of his teachers.

According to detail, the student had a fight with a student of class 10. Following the fight, the school administration refused to allow him to sit exam. Instead, he was told to stand outside the classroom during exam as punishment.

The child’s father alleged that the teacher misbehaved with his son so much that it compelled the child to try to take his own life. "The teacher told my son that his career is over," he said

The father said the student has spinal cord injury and doctors are are not hopeful about his recovery.

The school’s CEO Ahsanullah Waqas said that they have suspended two teachers and investigating the incident. Waqas maintained that the punishment meted out to the student was normal.

Chief Secretary Punjab has taken notice and has directed the private school to submit a reply by February 16.

According to the District Education Authority, a proposal to close the school or revoke its license is also under consideration.
