Deepika Padukone’s latest release Gehraiyaan has been receiving mixed reviews but Kangana Ranaut has some really harsh words for the film.
There was a lot of hype around Gehraiyaan before its release. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. It is directed by Shakun Batra and revolves around the themes of millennial love and infidelity. In the weeks leading up to its release, Deepika, Siddhant and Ananya heavily promoted Gehraiyaan and gave fans insights into their experience working together. Intimacy director Dar Gai was taken on to choreograph the love scenes involving Deepika and Siddhant. There was a lot of talk about Deepika and Siddhant’s onscreen chemistry as well.
Gehraiyaan released on Friday on Amazon Prime to mixed reviews. Many people praised the lead performances but others were critical of the film’s third act, which had a wild twist not many would have seen coming.
Kangana Ranaut, known for declaring entire Bollywood her enemy on various occasions, had some really harsh words for Gehraiyaan.
“I am also a millennial but I identify and understand this kind of romance,” wrote Kangana. “In the name of millennial/new age/urban movies, don’t sell trash please.”
Kangana went on to remark that “bad movies are bad and no amount of skin show or pornography can save it”.
Kangana didn’t name the movie directly, but her jibe was evident enough to show that she meant Gehraiyaan.
“It’s a basic fact koi gehraiyaan wali baat nahi hai,” she added.
Kangana is all set to host her own OTT reality show Lock Upp produced by Ekta Kapoor.
