Day three: Pakistan one wicket away from clinching Test series

Another fruitful session for Pakistan see them just one wicket away from clinching the Test series against Zimbabwe.

The home team lost seven wickets in the evening session on day three in Harare and finished the day at the score of 229-9, still trailing the visitors by 158 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Regis Chakabva was the star performer for the hosts as he finished with score of 80 off 137 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes.

He was well-supported by captain Brendan Taylor who scored 49 off 31 balls, which included 10 boundaries.

For Pakistan, left-arm spinner Nauman Ali and left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi were the pick of the bowlers as they claimed five and four wickets each.

Tea:

In the after noon session, Zimbabwe put a much better batting display on show in the second innings against Pakistan.

The home team, after being asked to bat again as the visitors enforced the follow-on, were 98 for the loss of two wickets at tea on day three.

Chakabva and Taylor were not out on 43 and 24 off 61 and 15 balls respectively.

For Pakistan, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and left-arm spinner Nauman Ali claimed a wicket each.

Lunch:

Earlier, Hasan Ali’s outstanding bowling helped Pakistan in edging closer to securing a Test series win against Zimbabwe.

The home team, who resumed their first innings at the score of 52-4 on day three in Harare, managed to add just 80 runs before being bowled out for just 132 at lunch.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Regis Chakabva finished the innings with the top score of 33 off 92 balls with the help of five fours.

For Pakistan, Hasan was the standout performer as he claimed five wickets and gave 27 runs in 13 overs.

Pakistan declared their first innings just after the tea break on day two at the score of 510 for the loss of eight wickets.

Opener Abid Ali went back to the pavilion 215 not out off 407 balls with the help of 29 fours.

For the home team, pacer Blessing Muzarabani was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets.
