Record-setter Khushdil Shah guides Southern Punjab to win against Sindh

Khushdil Shah's record century helped Southern Punjab register a two-wicket win over Sindh in the 16th game of the National T20 Cup in Rawalpindi.

Shan Masood's side successfully chased the 217-run target as Khushdil registered the fastest century scored by a Pakistani batsman in the 20-over format off just 35 balls.

The previous record belonged to Ahmed Shahzad who achieved the milestone in 40 balls for Barisal Burners against Duronto Rajshahi in the 2012 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Khushdil also put on a 127-run partnership with Hussain Talat who scored 62 off 36 deliveries with five boundaries and three sixes to his name.

Earlier, Sindh scored 216-3 in their 20-overs after being sent to bat first.

The opening batsman played a blistering 108-run knock which came off 58 deliveries. It included 10 boundaries and six sixes.

He put on a 123-run partnership for the second wicket with veteran batsman Asad Shafiq who scored 59 off 37 balls with the help of six fours and two maximums.

Pacer Mohammad Ilyas picked up two wickets.
