Pakistani-origin candidates secure victory in UK elections
LONDON: Candidates of Pakistani origin have secured victories in Britain elections as the Conservative Party takes the lead.
Here are the four candidates who have won seats in the elections:
Naz Shah
Naz Shah participated in the elections on ticket of the British Labour Party. She defeated George Galloway on the seat of Bradford West.
Sadiq Khan
Sadiq Aman Khan is a member of the British Labour Party who is an elected member of the Britain parliament since 2005 for Tooting constituency. He has served as Minister of State for Communities and Minister of State for Transport.
Imran Hussain
Imran Hussain took part in the elections of Bradford West constituency on the ticket of British Labour Party. He suffered defeat in 2012 by-election at the hands of George Galloway.
Tasmina Sheikh
Tasmina Sheikh is a Scottish actress, solicitor and Scottish National Party member. She won the Ochil and South Perthshire constituency seat in the elections. She is being termed as the 'rising star' of the Scottish National Party. - Samaa
