President, Senate chief condemn attack on Maulana Ghafoor Haidery’s motorcade

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Friday condemned the attack on the motorcade of Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery in Mastung.

He expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the blast. He prayed for early recovery of the deputy chairman of Senate, a statement from the President House said.

The president directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical care to the injured.

He said all measures would be taken to get rid of the country from scourge of terrorism and to ensure peace and security for the people.

Maulana Haidery is safe: Rabbani

Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Friday informed the house that Deputy Chairman Maulana Ghafoor Haidery escaped a suicide attack in Mastung area in Balochistan province when he was coming out of a mosque.

“In this attack, according to my information eight to ten people had expired while deputy chairman also sustained injuries,” he said and informed that he twice talked to home secretary and chief secretary Balochistan, Corps Commander asking them to shift Maulana Haidery to Combined Military Hospital Quetta if his condition was serious.

He strongly condemned the incident on his and on behalf of the house and said, “Perpetrators of this cowardly act cannot shake our resolve against terrorism. They are mistaken, they cannot be successful in their nefarious designs.”

Leader of the House Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq led prayers for those expired in the incident and also condemned the incident.

Zafarul Haq and other members offered Fateha for early recovery of the deputy chairman Senate.

Bazinjo condemns attack

Minister for Ports and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bazinjo Friday strongly condemned the suicide attack on Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery.

Speaking in the Senate, he urged interior ministry to chalk out a plan to purge the area from terrorist elements as they had been targeting this area in the past as well.

“Security forces should start combing operation in this area as it also hosts some very dangerous culprits,” he said.

The minister reiterated firm resolve of the government to stand undeterred against the nefarious designs of our enemies and terrorists who were involved in heinous crime of destabilizing our country.- SAMAA/AGENCIES
