KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda today called for the imposition of emergency in Karachi in the wake of a deadly attack on military police.

Two personnel embraced martyrdom when two masked men riding a motorcycle targeted a security vehicle on MA Jinnah Road near Tibet Center.

"Law and order situation has deteriorated in Karachi, where security forces are being killed," Vawda told SAMAA.

"Nobody including citizens, rangers and police are safe in the city. I demand that government hand over Karachi to army after imposition of emergency under Article 245," he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to SAMAA by phone, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal strongly condemned the attack.

"Targeted operation will continue in Karachi till the elimination of last terrorist. We are in a state of war," he said.

The home minister said that law and order had improved in the city owing to the operations conducted by Rangers and police in recent years.

To a question, he said that Local Government election would be held as per schedule.  - SAMAA
