Flood warnings after heavy rains hit Punjab, Kashmir

LAHORE: Widespread thundershowers with scattered heavy falls are expected over upper catchments of Rivers Chenab,Jhelum,Ravi and Sutlej along with Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

Scattered thundershowers with Isolated heavy falls are also expected over Rawalpindi division alongwith Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southeast Sindh,during next 24 hours.

However,the wet spell is likely to decrease after 48 hours,stated Met report on Thursday.

Although River Chenab at Marala was in low flood but high  flood level is expected in Rivers Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum and Sutlej alongwith their associated nullahs during next 48 hours.

A trough of westerly wave over northern parts of the country now lies over Kashmir and its adjoining areas. Strong moist current from Bay of Bangal is penetrating into Punjab and Kashmir upto 5000 feet. A seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan. (APP)
