A Pakistani man who fled the Taliban in Swat in 2008 was gunned down in New York on April 1. Shakeel Ahmed Khan fled Swat after his father and two brothers were killed by the Taliban in 2008. The Taliban had attacked his uncle, ANP leader Waqar Ahmed Khan's house in Swat's Shah Dherai, killing his father Iqbal, brothers Jameel and Abbas and five domestic workers. Shakeel left Swat to go to the US and started a new life there. He opened a restaurant. His body was sent back to Pakistan on April 4 and he was laid to rest in his hometown on April 5.
