Web series 'Shameless Proposal' targets domestic violence

A new web series, Shameless Proposal, is out with its first episode ‘MachoMan’ which highlights the issue of domestic violence.

It is produced by Sadia Jabbar and shows awkward situations which women go through when the ‘rishta-walay’ visit.

When the girl brings chai to the guests, her mother puts a lollipop in her mouth so that she can’t speak. The 'proposed' groom starts to brag about how he doesn’t need to do anything because he is a ‘man’.

The girl lashes out at the ‘machoman’ at the end of the episode and talks about the challenges women face.

The episode takes on a serious issue in a comic manner, but we thought the execution could be better. The satire also needed some improvement as the dialogues were too blunt.

The first episode was released on Friday.
