Six injured in blast in Peshawar’s Kali Bari, CCTV footage captures man planting bomb

Security forces have sealed the area
Six people, including two women, were injured in a blast in Peshawar’s Kali Bari, in its Saddar area, on Saturday morning. The police say an eight to 10 kilogramme locally made bomb was planted in a white 1986 model Toyota Corolla parked near the Government High School No 1 in Saddar. According to CCTV footage obtained by SAMAA Digital, at 8:44am the bomb exploded. The footage showed that the car, which is registered in the Khyber district, was parked in front of an empty plot by a bearded man who then exits the car, wrapped in a shawl. Security agencies in Jamrud arrested a man they believe owns the car used in the blast. He has been identified as Naik Muhammad. The Bomb Disposal Squad AIG says it is an unusual incident because the ignition was not connected to the cylinder. The IED exploded but the cylinder didn't, which is possibly why the damage was not as extensive. It is possible that this area was not the target of the attack, as there are no important installations in the area. Security forces have sealed the area. The front of several stores were damaged in the blast and their shutters and sign boards were destroyed. Because the markets in Peshawar open at 9am, the number of injuries were not as high as they could have been. He confirmed that four people were injured but said three of them suffered minor injuries, such as being cut by glass during the explosion. One person's injuries were slightly more severe, said the minister. Three of the injured people were brought to Lady Reading Hospital, according to the hospital's director Dr Khalid Masood. He said they are being treated and their condition is out of danger. These people have been identified as Ibraheem, son of Baadi Gull, a resident of Rehman Town, Muhammad Farooq, son of Deen Muhammad who is a resident of Saddar, and Mukhtiyara Bibi. Later, two more people were brought to the hospital. They have been identified as Robia, wife of Frances, and Rehmat Gul, son of Badam.
