LHC adjourns hearing of application against Shoaib Akhtar

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of an application of Pakistan Cricket Board against fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar till October 17.

PCB, earlier last month,filed an application praying LHC
to issue direction for the fast bowler that "before playing
cricket, he must pay fine of rupees seven millions which was
imposed against him by the Appellate Tribunal (AT) of PCB on
the charges of misconduct."

The AT of the PCB had also banned Shoaib for playing cricket till
18 months. However, Shoaib challenged the decision before the LHC and
the court allowed him to play while the payment of fine was

Last month, after the court's decision the PCB asked Shoaib to
pay the fine but he argued that he will pay after the final
decision of the court on his petition in which he challenged
the AT's decision so the PCB had filed an application before the LHC.

The LHC office had fixed today (Wednesday) for the hearing. However,
the case was not fixed in the court before the Chief Justice so
the case was adjourned till October 17.

PCB's counsel also prayed the court to fix the hearing of the PCB's application alongwith the main petition of Shoaib Akhtar the same day to dispose of the case as early as possible which the court has allowed.
