The bout was King Khan’s second of the year after he returned from a two-year hiatus to beat Phil Lo Greco on April 21. Photo: Reuters[/caption] Khan won the fight comfortably, over 12 rounds, 119-108 119-109 118-110. The former light-welterweight world champion, who had dropped Phil Lo Greco twice in under 39 seconds, was given a much sterner test by Vargas. Photo: Reuters[/caption] Khan’s blistering hand-speed helped him drop his Colombian counterpart twice. The 31-year-old boxer was also floored himself, but he recovered just in time to scrape a win. The fight, which was held at Arena Birmingham, was an eliminator for the World Boxing Association welterweight title held by Manny Pacquiao.
