Prime minister in waiting Imran Khan said the PTI will nominate a ‘stainless’ party member for the slot of Punjab chief minister.
“We will give Punjab a chief minister who has never been accused of any crime,” Imran said during a parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday.
He urged the parliamentary party to support the individual who is going to be nominated in a day or two.
The PTI chairperson congratulated his elected MPAs and MNAs on winning a difficult election and said the party will have to improve its ticket awarding process. “Many people were not given party tickets but they won.”
The PM-elect said that the PTI would begin preparations for the next election based on merit from now.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, PTI’s vice-president, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said that the PTI has brought a change in Punjab.
“The people of Punjab have proved that they wanted a change,” the PTI leader said. “It was an election between three parties and the PPP and PML-N were rejected by the voters.”
He said that at least 164 elected Punjab MPAs attended the party’s meeting. “We don’t want corrupt rulers.”
Qureshi said that the PTI government will have to face many serious challenges and they can’t claim that they will fix everything in 100 days.
“The whole party will support the individual nominated by Imran Khan as Punjab CM,” he added. “Imran Khan has told all the elected MNAs and MPAs to focus on ideological politics.”
