Key suspect in Karachi knife attacks arrested

[video width="640" height="360" mp4=""][/video] News Desk: Sahiwal police on Sunday claimed to have arrested prime suspect in the recent knife attacks on women in Karachi, Samaa reported. According to our correspondent, the accused Waseem has been involved in similar attacks on women in Sahiwal in 2015. He is wanted to Punjab police in several cases of stabbing. District Inspector General (DIG) East, Sultan Ali Khowaja, said the suspect could also be involved in knife attacks on women in Karachi; however, it is yet to be ascertained. Following his arrest, Waseem was shifted to an undisclosed location for investigation. He will be transferred to Karachi in a couple of days for further investigations. Until a final version by police in the light of the investigation, the attacks will remain a mystery. On Friday, Karachi police said they have arrested a man identified as Shehzad, who is an alleged friend of Waseem. Police told the administrative judge of the antiterrorism courts that Shehzad had disclosed during initial questioning that he provided cover to Waseem, who came to Karachi around a month ago, during knife attacks and also carried out recce. Shahzad further revealed that Waseem was suffering from some psychological disorder and he enjoyed the news of his attacks when it was aired by TV channels. - Samaa
