ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has stated that Pakistan wishes to see peace and stability in Afghanistan. According to a press release, Khawaja Asif - responding to a media query regarding Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's statements - stated that Pakistan's position in the context of Afghanistan is very clear as it wants to see peace and stability in Afghanistan and the country will contribute and play its due role in all the initiatives taken to that end. Asif said, "We already have bilateral, trilateral, quadrilateral and multilateral mechanism for dialogue and interaction with Afghanistan in place." The foreign minister added that the mechanisms for boosting cooperation between the two South Asian countries should be utilised to their full potential. He further said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan, as of late, recognized the need for political to political, military to military and intelligence to intelligence cooperation during the interactions.
