SC orders removal of Dr Asim's name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: In a ruling on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued directives to remove Dr Asim's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).  According to details, the apex court ordered Sindh High Court to return Dr Asim's passport to him as it allowed the former petroleum minister to fly out of the country for medical treatment. The apex court ordered Dr Asim to deposit a surety of Rs 6 million as surety. The Supreme Court said that NAB's treatment of Dr Asim compared to other suspects was different. The bench also remarked that the medical board's report could not be declared as incorrect and that NAB had not expressed any reservations towards the report. Petitions to cancel Dr Asim's bail were discarded by the apex court.
